Equipment sales and residential monitoring
Major Home Security Terms and Conditions
Customer Agreement • Version 3.0 • Issued October 7, 2026
This version applies only when affirmatively accepted with your order. It does not change an earlier agreement merely by appearing online.
This Agreement is between Major Security Holdings, doing business as Major Home Security, at 4 Barlows Landing Road, STE 13, Pocasset, MA 02559 (“Major Home Security,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), and the customer identified in the accepted order (“you”). It governs the equipment and eligible residential services identified in that order. Read and retain the complete Agreement and your completed order record.
Key terms before you enroll
- $35 monthly or $360 for a prepaid year, plus disclosed taxes. Both include alarm monitoring and Alarm.com Pro Video for up to four compatible cameras after activation. Additional cameras cost $2 each per month. Equipment is separate.
- Free equipment shipping and 60-day returns. We ship within seven calendar days of purchase, with delivery within 14 calendar days of purchase. Request an ordinary return within 60 calendar days of the original shipping date. Opened, undamaged equipment is eligible; no restocking fee. You pay ordinary return shipping. Sections 11 and 12 explain the separate warranty and cancellation protections.
- No automatic annual renewal. Ongoing service is cancelable immediately. A prepaid year converts to $35 monthly billing only with your separate opt-in.
- Cancel at any time without a termination fee. Unused prepaid monitoring is refunded. Sections 8 and 12 explain additional initial cancellation rights.
- Monitoring begins only after confirmed activation. Buying a panel or opening an app does not start emergency response.
- We are not an insurer. Section 15 includes a shared $1,000 damages cap for eligible claims, including ordinary negligence; Section 16 excludes protected claims and remedies from that cap. Section 14 addresses insured property losses and subrogation.

1. Acceptance, order record and customer authority
You accept this Agreement by selecting an unchecked agreement checkbox and submitting your order, or by signing electronically or on paper. We provide the Agreement and your order in a form you can save or print, by email immediately after acceptance and no later than 24 hours afterward. Browsing, silence, an equipment purchase, or a preselected box does not authorize monitoring or recurring charges. Recurring billing needs a separate affirmative authorization under Section 7.
Your order record identifies the customer, contracting business, equipment and prices, protected property address, chosen services, applicable licenses and regulator notices, and the date and version accepted. Your activation record adds the central station, enrolled devices and response instructions, actual start date, prepaid coverage dates, next charge date and amount, and continuation choice. We supply these records to you. No recurring charge is authorized by a blank field or an undisclosed future price.
You represent that you are at least 18 and have reached the age of legal majority where you live, can enter this Agreement, and own the premises or have permission to install and use the equipment. If acting for someone else, you must have authority to bind that customer. Your signature does not waive independent rights of occupants, insurers, or people you cannot legally represent.
2. Equipment, services and launch availability
Your accepted order controls which equipment and services are included. Equipment, professional monitoring, interactive app services, and optional features are separate items unless the order expressly bundles them. Equipment-only purchases do not include professional monitoring.
Launch states. We accept orders under this Agreement for eligible protected properties in Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Indiana, Kentucky, Missouri, Wisconsin, Kansas, North Dakota, Ohio, and Vermont, subject to the property and feature restrictions below. All other states, the District of Columbia, and U.S. territories are outside this launch offer. State inclusion does not establish eligibility for every municipality or property.
- Maine, New Hampshire and Massachusetts: residential DIY equipment and the monitoring features expressly accepted in your order, within the scope of the applicable business authorizations.
- Indiana, Kentucky, Missouri and Wisconsin: wireless, customer-installed systems for one- and two-family homes; burglary, water and freeze monitoring, plus eligible supplementary residential smoke/heat and carbon monoxide features when expressly accepted and activated. No shared or common-area building fire system is included.
- Kansas, North Dakota, Ohio and Vermont: wireless, customer-installed burglary, water and freeze systems for one- and two-family homes only. Smoke, heat, fire and carbon monoxide equipment, programming, troubleshooting, testing and monitoring are excluded from our launch offer in these four states. Those features cannot be added merely because they are compatible with the panel. A Vermont project must have a total initial equipment and setup-work price below $10,000; splitting one project into separate orders does not avoid this limit.
- Milwaukee, Wisconsin: excluded from this launch offer. Other localities remain subject to the approval process below.
Where this section limits service to one- and two-family homes, the entire building must contain no more than two dwelling units. An individual apartment or condominium in a larger building does not meet that limit.
Property approval. Before accepting the affected order or regulated service, we confirm the actual protected property address, dwelling type, selected features, required business authorizations, customer permits and local response arrangements. A billing or shipping address alone does not establish service eligibility. We do not offer or activate an affected service where a required local company license, permit or response arrangement is missing. If we cannot accept an order or activate the purchased service, we refund the affected unfulfilled equipment and unused service charges. Do not move an activated system or add a restricted feature without new approval.
Our standard residential monitoring plan, when ordered and activated, includes professional alarm monitoring, supported Alarm.com app functions, and Alarm.com Pro Video for up to four compatible cameras with standard motion/event-triggered clip recording. These features are included with both the $35 monthly option and the $360 annual prepayment. Additional cameras cost $2 each per month; higher-level plans are available upon request at a separately disclosed price. Camera hardware is purchased separately. Camera use requires suitable power, broadband internet and the network connection specified for the model. Buying equipment does not activate monitoring or video service. Camera setup and service activation must be completed.
Compatible alarm devices are monitored only if the feature is available at the property, installed, enrolled, programmed for the intended response and tested. A device appearing in an app does not establish professional alarm monitoring. The included camera service is customer video access and event-clip recording; it does not include continuous recording, a person continuously watching cameras, video verification, personal medical response or paid guard response. Applicable Pro Video clip and storage limits apply; discuss any particular recording-retention requirement with us before ordering. Camera video depends on the home internet connection and does not use the alarm panel’s cellular reporting path. A locality requiring private verification or guard response needs a lawful, separately disclosed arrangement before activation. Specialized automation requires a separately selected compatible service.
These terms cover ordinary residential DIY systems. They do not include onsite installation, electrical wiring, engineered fire-system design, a commercial or shared-building fire monitoring agreement, a code-compliance certificate, formal fire inspection or testing certification, or approval of premises with special life-safety requirements. Eligible smoke/heat and carbon monoxide features are supplementary residential services; they do not replace legally required local warning devices or make an otherwise regulated installation exempt. Equipment availability and legal requirements both affect which features we can accept.
Preprogrammed equipment. A panel sold as preprogrammed has settings loaded before shipment, which may include device enrollment, zone names, reporting paths, and dealer or installer settings. Preprogramming is disclosed on the order and does not mean the system is activated or that placement and coverage have been inspected. Remote support is limited to the accepted services and permitted features. After reasonable ownership verification, we will provide customer-owned equipment lockout or installer codes within 10 business days of a written request, or sooner where required. This does not authorize access to another customer’s account or proprietary provider software. A transfer does not guarantee compatibility with a new provider.
3. DIY installation and customer responsibilities
This agreement includes no onsite installation. You select and install the equipment, subject to our express product descriptions and service commitments. Follow current manufacturer instructions and applicable laws, permits, and building requirements. Obtain professional installation or advice where the work requires it or where you cannot safely complete it. General shopping recommendations, system-builder results, and remote support are not an inspection of your premises or certification of complete coverage. This does not disclaim an express warranty or responsibility that applicable law preserves.
You agree to:
- Select sufficient, compatible devices and suitable locations; obtain landlord or owner consent and required permits; and use licensed personnel when required.
- Provide accurate service and dispatch addresses, access information, device descriptions, emergency contacts, and authorized-user details, and promptly update changes with us.
- Maintain electrical power, working batteries, and any internet, cellular reception, network equipment, or other communications your system requires. Backup power and communication paths have limits.
- Keep the system in working condition; replace depleted batteries and expired devices; promptly investigate trouble indications; and tell us about known failures, damage, or changes affecting operation.
- Test the system at least monthly and whenever manufacturer instructions require more frequent testing, and after installation, relocation, relevant network changes, repairs, or device replacement. Arrange test mode with the monitoring center before tests that could trigger dispatch, and confirm normal monitoring is restored afterward.
- Learn how to arm, disarm, cancel alarms, and use any duress feature. Protect account credentials and passcodes, use available account security features, and limit access to authorized people.
- Inform household members and other authorized users about safe operation, limitations, and any planned interruption of monitoring.
Do not remove, disable, or substitute for legally required smoke or carbon monoxide alarms merely because you purchase our products. Maintain required local warning devices and appropriate emergency plans. In an emergency, leave danger and contact 911 when safe; do not wait for an app notification or monitoring-center call.
4. Activation and changes to the system
Before monitoring begins, you must provide the required activation information, complete applicable subscriber consents, obtain required permits, and complete installation and end-to-end signal testing with us or the monitoring center. We must expressly confirm activation and the monitored service address. Shipment, payment, account creation, a cellular signal indicator, or an app login is not activation confirmation.
Any practice or test period and the signals excluded during it will be disclosed to you. During test mode, some or all signals may not trigger an emergency response. Do not assume newly added, renamed, moved, or reprogrammed devices are monitored until their configuration and signal handling have been confirmed. Moving to a new address requires acceptance, updated dispatch information, and reactivation testing; monitoring does not automatically transfer.
5. Monitoring and response procedures
We arrange professional central-station monitoring through Affiliated Monitoring, identified with its applicable contact and license information in your activation record. A provider change is subject to Section 18. Once active, the central station handles signals it actually receives and recognizes from your enrolled system under the applicable response instructions and legal requirements. We will exercise reasonable care in performing our agreed services. Depending on the signal, those procedures may include attempted verification, contact with authorized people, notification to public responders, or another response disclosed for your plan.
Not every device condition produces an emergency dispatch. Trouble, low-battery, power-loss, communications-failure, supervisory, and environmental signals may have different handling rules. Entry delays, exit delays, abort windows, verification procedures, and local dispatch rules can delay or prevent a request for response. A valid cancellation or instruction from a person using authorized credentials may be relied upon unless circumstances or law require otherwise. A public agency may continue its response even after a cancellation request.
We and the monitoring center do not control police, fire, ambulance, telecommunications carriers, or other independent responders. We do not guarantee that an agency will accept a request, dispatch personnel, arrive within a particular time, or prevent harm. Customer support email and ordinary customer-service telephone channels are not substitutes for emergency services.
Automated test signals and device supervision do not establish that every component, sensor, communications path, or protected area is functioning continuously. Except for a feature expressly included in your activated plan, we do not continuously observe occupants, listen to the premises, or watch cameras.
6. Permits and false alarms
You are responsible for obtaining and maintaining customer or premises permits, registrations, and local approvals required for the system. We remain responsible for licenses and authorizations the law requires of us. Tell us the permit information needed for dispatch. Some authorities may refuse response or impose verification conditions when permits are missing, expired, or subject to repeated false alarms.
You are responsible for lawful permit fees and false-alarm charges attributable to your premises or your use of the system, except to the extent caused by our breach or conduct for which responsibility cannot lawfully be shifted. We may seek reimbursement of documented charges properly attributable to you. Any fee charged by us must be disclosed before you incur it and permitted by law.
Our monitoring charge is stated in your order. Municipalities, emergency-service providers, and other third parties may impose permit, registration, alarm-response or false-alarm charges in addition to our fees. Where an ordinance requires the alarm company to obtain, administer, or pay for a permit, registration, or dispatch arrangement, we remain responsible for that duty. Any permitted customer reimbursement must be itemized before enrollment; this Agreement does not shift a nontransferable company duty to you. We provide the local dispatch and false-alarm instructions that apply to your activated service.
7. Prices, service duration and recurring billing
Equipment, shipping, taxes, selected services, and every mandatory business-imposed fee are disclosed before billing information is collected and before you agree to pay. The standard monitoring prices are $35 per calendar month or $360 prepaid for 12 months, plus applicable taxes. The annual prepayment is one $360 payment, equivalent to $30 per month; it is not twelve monthly installments. There is no cancellation, early termination, automatic-renewal, or standard reactivation fee. Optional services require a separately disclosed price and your affirmative selection.
Included video and additional cameras. Up to four compatible cameras with standard motion/event-triggered clip recording under Alarm.com Pro Video are included in either base monitoring payment option. Each camera above four adds $2 per month under either option. Camera equipment and any requested higher-level service are separate purchases. Before an additional recurring charge begins, your service order and separate billing authorization must state the camera count, total charge, payment interval and start date. No additional camera charge is authorized solely by buying camera hardware or accepting this Agreement. The $35 and $360 amounts below are base-plan prices; any approved extra-camera charges and taxes must also be shown in your total and recurring-charge authorization. Unused prepaid extra-camera service is refunded under the same applicable principles as other prepaid service in Section 8.
Service duration is separate from billing. Monitoring is a continuous service that continues day to day until canceled or lawfully ended. You have no minimum service commitment. No automatic continuation binds you to a fixed term longer than 30 days; under this Agreement you can end it immediately at any time. A calendar-month bill, including a month with 31 days, or a 12-month prepayment does not create a corresponding noncancelable contract term. All unused prepaid monitoring is refundable under Section 8.
MONTHLY BILLING: IF YOU SEPARATELY AUTHORIZE IT, MONITORING CONTINUES UNTIL CANCELED AT $35 PER CALENDAR MONTH, PLUS DISCLOSED TAXES. THE INITIAL PARTIAL MONTH IS PRORATED. SUBSEQUENT MONTHLY PAYMENTS ARE DUE ON THE FIRST DAY OF EACH MONTH. YOU MAY CANCEL AT ANY TIME, WITHOUT ADVANCE NOTICE OR A TERMINATION FEE, AND RECEIVE A REFUND FOR UNUSED PREPAID SERVICE.
ANNUAL PREPAYMENT: $360 PAYS FOR 12 MONTHS FROM CONFIRMED ACTIVATION. WE DO NOT AUTOMATICALLY CHARGE ANOTHER $360 OR AUTOMATICALLY RENEW A YEAR-LONG TERM. ONLY IF YOU SEPARATELY OPT IN TO CONTINUATION, SERVICE CONTINUES AFTER THE PREPAID PERIOD AT $35 PER CALENDAR MONTH, PLUS DISCLOSED TAXES, UNTIL CANCELED. OTHERWISE SERVICE ENDS AT THE DISCLOSED EXPIRATION DATE AND TIME. BUYING ANOTHER PREPAID YEAR REQUIRES A NEW AFFIRMATIVE ORDER.
Activation and first charge. Service time begins on confirmed activation. Monitoring money collected before then is a refundable advance credit. For monthly billing, the first charge covers activation through the end of that calendar month, calculated as $35 multiplied by the number of service days divided by the actual number of days in that month. An unused advance credit reduces the next bill. For annual prepayment, the coverage runs from activation to the same date 12 months later; a February 29 start ends on February 28 the following year. The activation record states exact dates and times. If activation cannot be completed, or you cancel before activation, we refund unused monitoring payments.
After an annual prepayment. A separate, initially unchecked continuation choice must disclose the $35 monthly rate, taxes, cancellation method, and when charges begin. If selected, the first post-prepayment charge is prorated from the prepaid expiration through that calendar month’s end; the next full $35 charge is on the first of the next month. The dates and amounts are confirmed at activation and in advance reminders. Without that affirmative authorization we will not convert you to paid monthly service or charge for a new prepaid year. We notify you of the scheduled end and the need to arrange continued protection, using the required advance notice and delivery method for your location. You may purchase a new prepaid year before expiration or choose monthly continuation affirmatively at any time before the end.
Separate authorization and records. We display the selected plan’s price, payment interval, continuation terms, cancellation rights and refund policy next to the recurring-charge authorization before you enroll. Consent to this Agreement alone is not recurring-charge consent. We retain the authorization and send you a retainable acknowledgment with your chosen terms and cancellation instructions. No free trial or automatically renewing promotional offer is created by this Agreement.
Billing and reminders. We send a reminder at least 10 days before each scheduled recurring charge, stating the amount, charge date, service period and direct cancellation method. Each bill or charge receipt repeats the amount, period and cancellation method. For continuing service, we send annual reminders 35 days and 15 days before each activation anniversary, adjusted to precede the first charge that would extend service beyond that 12-month interval. We also send reminders 35 days and 15 days before a prepaid year ends. Each reminder states the service, current or upcoming charge, exact charge date and time, last date and time to cancel to avoid that particular debit, continuation choice, cancellation method, and, if relevant, scheduled service end. The stated cutoff is only for avoiding that debit; you may still cancel afterward and receive the applicable unused-service refund. We provide any additional notice or timing required by law. If activation timing or another circumstance leaves too little time for an advance notice, we postpone the affected debit and its payment due date until the notice period has expired and disclose the actual debit date. This does not add fees, change the covered service period, make you delinquent, or itself interrupt service.
Payment rights. We do not condition purchase on consent to marketing. Your payment authorization covers only the selected plan and disclosed taxes at the stated intervals. We do not add purchases or fees without permission. Bank-account or debit authorizations and copies are provided as required by law. You may revoke a payment authorization, stop an eligible bank transfer, or dispute an unauthorized or incorrect charge using your legal rights. A variable preauthorized bank transfer receives at least 10 days’ advance notice of its amount and date unless a lawful, separately agreed alternative applies. A delay required to give that notice does not make you delinquent. Failed charges may be retried only as law and payment-network rules permit, with no duplicate collection.
Price or material service changes. We give direct notice at least 45 days before a proposed price increase or material reduction, then a reminder 15 days before it would take effect. The notices describe the change, effective date, new total recurring price, and cancellation method. Such a change requires your affirmative acceptance; silence is not acceptance. We do not increase the price of a prepaid period or change an accepted equipment price. If you decline a necessary change, existing terms remain until service is lawfully ended under Section 9, with unused prepayments refunded. Government-imposed tax changes are itemized and handled under applicable notice and payment-authorization rules.
8. Cancellation, refunds and special protections
Cancel at any time with no advance-notice requirement. Email a cancellation request to billing@majorhomesecurity.com, call (800) 564-8273, or write to our mailing address in Section 24. You may use the same medium you used to enroll. An online signup can be canceled online without a telephone call, fee, retention interview, or mandatory explanation. A clear cancellation request through another channel we maintain will also be honored.
You do not need to create an account or make a telephone call to cancel by email. We do not demand authentication information that prevents or unreasonably delays cancellation. Email cancellation does not require a special phrase: identify yourself and the account or protected address sufficiently for us to locate it. Do not send alarm passcodes or full payment credentials. Within one business day of a cancellation voicemail, we process the request or return your call. If your message provides sufficient information and we cannot reach you, we complete cancellation within one business day. We do not charge for a delay we cause.
Effective time. Unless you choose a later time, cancellation is effective when we receive your request. You may instead select the end of your paid period, or another date within it, to preserve protection while arranging a replacement. We confirm the exact service-end date and time and refund calculation promptly in a record you can retain. Billing cancellation is not delayed by a separate safety or identity check needed to process technical deactivation. We may make a necessary safety contact, but cannot use that contact to obstruct cancellation or impose more charges. Do not rely on monitoring after the effective service-end time.
Unused prepaid service. We refund unused monitoring payments from the effective service-end time, including unused time in a monthly bill or annual prepayment. The daily rate is the amount paid for the applicable period divided by its actual number of calendar days; a partial unused day is credited as a full day. We do not reprice an annual plan at the monthly rate, claw back its discount, deduct a cancellation fee, or charge future unprovided service. Applicable refundable taxes are included. We initiate refunds within 10 calendar days, or sooner where required by law; payment-provider posting time may vary. Amounts properly owed for earlier service remain due.
We refund any charge taken after a timely cancellation in full. A request to stop automatic renewal prevents the next renewal even if a technical billing cutoff has passed. You may revoke a recurring-payment authorization without losing statutory rights; revocation does not erase lawful earlier charges. If your message also clearly asks to end service, we treat it as cancellation rather than requiring a second request.
Canceling monitoring does not itself return equipment. Returning the entire alarm system to us also cancels its monitoring unless you clearly ask to keep service for replacement equipment; we confirm the service-end time. Returning a single accessory does not end monitoring for the rest of the system. Equipment refunds follow Section 12.
Special circumstances. Service may be canceled immediately on account of a move, military orders, deployment, death, disability, or another change in circumstances, with the same unused-prepayment refund and no termination fee. We do not require military orders to exercise our ordinary cancellation right. A servicemember, surviving spouse, estate, or other person with legal authority retains any greater cancellation, refund, notice, or equipment-return rights provided by federal or state law.
Cooling-off rights. Statutory rescission and cooling-off rights apply in addition to this Agreement. We provide any required transaction-specific cancellation form, deadline and paper copies; a website link is not a substitute where paper delivery is mandatory. Section 12 provides an additional 30-day initial-order cancellation right.
9. Delinquency suspension and termination
Keep your payment method current and pay undisputed amounts when due. IF AN UNDISPUTED MONITORING BALANCE REMAINS UNPAID AFTER 30 CALENDAR DAYS PAST ITS DUE DATE, WE MAY SUSPEND OR TERMINATE MONITORING, SUBJECT TO THE ADVANCE NOTICE AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS BELOW.
Before stopping service for ordinary payment delinquency, we will give notice of the amount due, how to cure or raise a good-faith billing dispute, the intended termination date and time, and the consequences. We will provide at least 30 calendar days’ advance notice and any longer period, required delivery method, or notice to authorities required by applicable law. The cutoff will not occur before both the 30-day delinquency period and all applicable notice periods have expired. Where law requires certified mail, verified personal delivery, or another method, email alone will not substitute. We will investigate a timely good-faith billing dispute and observe applicable dispute protections.
WHEN MONITORING IS SUSPENDED OR ENDED, SIGNALS MAY NO LONGER BE RECEIVED OR ACTED ON, EMERGENCY NOTIFICATIONS AND DISPATCH REQUESTS MAY STOP, AND APP OR COMMUNICATIONS SERVICES MAY BE UNAVAILABLE. LOCAL EQUIPMENT OPERATION MAY ALSO DEPEND ON THE PARTICULAR DEVICE AND CONFIGURATION. ARRANGE ALTERNATIVE PROTECTION BEFORE THE CUTOFF.
Monitoring charges stop when we suspend or terminate monitoring; amounts lawfully accrued before then remain due. On any termination, including for breach, we refund unused prepaid monitoring fees using Section 8's daily calculation and refund timing, less any lawful accrued balance. We also refund prepaid monitoring fees attributable to days of suspension. A suspension does not automatically extend the prepaid period or authorize renewal. Payment after a cutoff does not automatically restore service. Restoration requires our acceptance, any needed testing, and express reactivation confirmation. We do not charge an undisclosed reactivation fee. We do not remotely disable independently functioning local safety devices to collect a debt.
Separate from ordinary delinquency, we may interrupt affected services where necessary to address an immediate safety or security threat, unlawful use, an order of a public authority, loss of required authorization, or another condition making performance unlawful. We will provide notice as soon as reasonably possible and comply with nonwaivable notice duties. A correctable material breach ordinarily receives notice and at least 30 calendar days to cure unless law requires more. We may discontinue service without customer breach on at least 45 calendar days’ notice, or longer if law requires, and refund unused prepaid monitoring fees. Required fire or life-safety services must follow applicable authority-notification and discontinuance rules.
10. System and communications limitations
Equipment and services can fail, be defeated, or be interrupted. Causes may include improper installation or use, limited detection areas, damage, power or battery failure, interference or jamming, inadequate signal strength, internet or cellular outages, software faults, unauthorized access, severe weather, and events outside reasonable control. A sensor detects only the conditions it is designed and correctly positioned to detect. No system detects every intrusion, fire, hazardous condition, or emergency.
Networks, app platforms, operating systems, and manufacturer support can change or be discontinued. You may need compatible replacements or upgrades at a separately disclosed cost. We will provide reasonable notice of known material changes affecting your subscribed service when practicable. You are not required to buy an undisclosed upgrade, and may cancel affected monitoring and obtain the unused prepaid refund described above. These limitations do not excuse our failure to perform an express duty or erase nonwaivable rights.
11. Six Month Limited Hardware Warranty
Warrantor and coverage. Major Security Holdings, doing business as Major Home Security, at the mailing address in Section 24, warrants to the original consumer purchaser that new hardware purchased directly from Major Home Security will be free from defects in materials and workmanship under normal residential use for six months beginning on delivery. This voluntary hardware warranty does not insure against burglary, fire, injury, or other consequential loss and does not promise uninterrupted monitoring. Defect and loss remedies preserved by law remain available.
Remedy and costs. For a covered defect, we will, at our option, repair the affected hardware, replace it with new or functionally equivalent replacement hardware, or refund the price paid for the affected hardware and applicable refundable tax. Covered parts, repair labor, and reasonable authorized shipping to and from us within our U.S. service territory are provided without charge. We will supply a prepaid shipping method where a return is needed. Onsite diagnosis, removal, and reinstallation are not included in this voluntary warranty unless expressly agreed or required by law. If the selected remedy cannot be completed within a reasonable time, we will provide another available remedy, including a refund where appropriate, without limiting greater legal rights.
Requesting service. Contact support@majorhomesecurity.com, call (800) 564-8273, or write to the warrantor at the address above. Supply reasonably available order details, the product identity, and a description of the problem; other reasonable proof of purchase is accepted if the receipt is unavailable. Report defects during the warranty period, subject to any longer reporting period or rights required by law. We may offer reasonable troubleshooting and will provide return instructions when needed. Do not ship equipment until instructions are supplied. These procedures do not extinguish a statutory claim. Request a free paper warranty copy through the same contact methods.
Exclusions. This voluntary warranty excludes ordinary wear, normal battery depletion, cosmetic damage that does not affect function, and damage caused by misuse, installation contrary to manufacturer instructions, accidents, improper storage, unauthorized modification, unsuitable environmental exposure, or external electrical events. A manufacturing defect in a battery is not excluded merely because it is a battery. Third-party repair, compatible third-party parts, or another monitoring provider does not, by itself, void coverage; only resulting damage may be excluded to the extent law permits. Purchasing or maintaining a monitoring subscription is not a condition of this hardware warranty.
Replacement coverage and other warranties. A repaired or replacement item is covered for the remainder of the original six-month period plus any extension required by law. Any applicable manufacturer's warranty is separate and is not shortened by this warranty. Software and service commitments are governed by their applicable terms and mandatory law; this hardware warranty does not diminish them.
Consumer rights. We do not exclude or shorten implied warranties in this Agreement. Mandatory implied warranties, statutory repair and replacement rights, legally required warranty extensions, and remedies remain in effect. This includes Maine and Massachusetts consumer protections, Kansas protections for implied warranties and their remedies under K.S.A. 50-639, and all other applicable protections within the launch area. The $1,000 damages cap, insurance waiver, excluded-damages clause, and indemnity do not limit consumer product warranty rights or their remedies under this Agreement. This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have other rights which vary from State to State.
12. Shipping, 60-day equipment returns and initial cancellation rights
We may reject an order before acceptance for a genuine availability, payment, fraud, or service-eligibility issue. We will not substitute a material item or increase an accepted price without your agreement. If we cannot fulfill an order, we refund the affected payment. Standard outbound shipping is free for equipment orders accepted within our service area. We ship within seven calendar days of purchase, with delivery within 14 calendar days of purchase. If delayed, we provide the required delay notice and obtain any required consent, or cancel and issue the required refund. Risk of shipping loss stays with us until delivery to you or your designated recipient.
Ordinary 60-day equipment returns
You may request a return of equipment purchased directly from Major Home Security within 60 calendar days of its original shipping date. This applies to equipment-only purchases and equipment purchased alongside monitoring. Opened equipment is eligible if undamaged. There is no restocking fee. For an ordinary change-of-mind return, you pay return shipping; we do not deduct an outbound standard shipping charge because that shipping is free.
Before sending equipment back, obtain return authorization by emailing orders@majorhomesecurity.com or calling (800) 564-8273. Identify your order and the items being returned. Ship authorized returns to Major Home Security, 4 Barlows Landing Road, STE 13, Pocasset, MA 02559. Pack the equipment securely and include its supplied components and accessories. We inspect the returned items and refund the purchase price of eligible returned equipment and applicable refundable tax to the original payment method. Payment-provider posting time may vary. An ordinary equipment return does not by itself refund service already supplied; monitoring cancellation and unused-service refunds are addressed in Section 8.
This ordinary-return policy does not reduce the separate initial-order cancellation rights below, the limited hardware warranty in Section 11, or any statutory rights. When one of those protections requires us to pay return shipping, provide a different remedy or issue an earlier refund, that protection controls. See our shipping and returns page for the practical return steps.
Separate initial-order cancellation protection
Initial-order cancellation. You may cancel a new equipment-and-monitoring order without penalty through midnight on the 30th calendar day after the later of equipment delivery or receipt of your complete Agreement and order. For a monitoring-only order, the period runs from the later of activation or receipt of those records. Send a clear cancellation request through any method in Section 8; no special form is necessary. We refund the canceled order’s equipment price, original standard outbound shipping, refundable taxes, and monitoring fees paid for that order. You are not charged for monitoring used during this initial cancellation period. For later monitoring cancellation, the unused-prepayment calculation in Section 8 applies.
For equipment being returned under this right, we provide a prepaid return method. Send it within 14 days after receiving instructions, or make it reasonably available for our collection if a statutory cancellation rule calls for collection. Reasonable opening, installation, and testing do not disqualify a return. Return all included equipment and accessories; we may seek only a lawful, documented amount for missing components or damage beyond reasonable use, without a restocking fee. We initiate the refund within 10 calendar days after receiving your cancellation, or sooner where law requires; you remain responsible for returning the equipment as described. This policy does not condition a statutory refund on a return where the law prohibits that condition.
For defective, damaged, incorrect, or recalled equipment after the initial cancellation period, contact support for the applicable warranty, safety, replacement, or refund remedy. No voluntary deadline cuts off mandatory warranty rights or a longer legal cancellation period. Follow safe reset instructions before a return without deleting evidence needed for a defect claim. If a statute prescribes different cancellation notices, pickup duties, refund timing, or other greater rights, we honor those requirements.
13. Reasonable representations and service commitments
You represent that information you provide is accurate to the best of your knowledge, that you are authorized to provide the account and payment information, and that your use of the equipment and services will comply with law. You will obtain legally required consent for contact information, recordings, access credentials, and use involving other people. You will not use the system for unlawful surveillance, harassment, unauthorized access, or deliberate false emergency reports.
We represent that we will have the business authorizations required for the services we undertake, honor our express commitments and applicable warranties, and use reasonable care in arranging and delivering the services described in your order. We do not warrant that an alarm will prevent crime, fire, injury, death, property damage, or another loss, that a communications network will always be available, or that a third-party responder will act within a specified time. No clause in this Agreement negates a product description, express warranty, or representation to the extent applicable law makes it binding.
14. Insurance and waiver of subrogation
WE ARE NOT AN INSURER. EQUIPMENT PRICES AND SERVICE FEES ARE NOT INSURANCE PREMIUMS AND ARE NOT BASED ON THE VALUE OF YOUR PROPERTY OR THE POTENTIAL SEVERITY OF A LOSS. You remain responsible for arranging appropriate insurance for your property and risks. You agree to maintain property insurance reasonably appropriate to your interests in the premises and its contents during monitoring. Our services supplement your precautions and insurance; they do not replace them. A monitoring certificate or insurance discount is not a guarantee of protection or coverage.
To the extent permitted by applicable law and your insurance policy, you allocate insured property losses to your property insurance and waive your rights of recovery against the Protected Parties defined below for property losses covered and payable under that insurance, including losses allegedly caused by a Protected Party's ordinary negligence. To the same lawful extent, this waiver includes an insurer's derivative right to pursue those waived claims through subrogation. If your policy requires permission or an endorsement for a pre-loss waiver, you agree to request and obtain it before relying on this waiver. Promptly tell us if required insurer permission cannot be obtained. This waiver does not operate to the extent it would invalidate your insurance coverage; any resulting service change requires our ordinary lawful notice process.
This provision does not purport to amend your policy, deprive you of insurance proceeds, bind an insurer beyond your legal authority, or waive an independent claim belonging to another person. It does not waive nonwaivable consumer or warranty rights. It is a separate allocation of insured property risk; its enforceability is independent of the damages cap. Any remaining claim is subject to the other lawful provisions of this Agreement. Do not assume your insurer has accepted a waiver solely because you accepted this Agreement.
15. Limitation of liability and excluded damages
"Protected Parties" means Major Home Security, its officers and employees acting within their roles, and the central monitoring station, Alarm.com, communications carriers, and other subcontractors or suppliers, together with their personnel, only insofar as they provide the equipment or services covered by this Agreement. They are intended third-party beneficiaries of Sections 14 through 17 and may enforce those provisions, subject to Section 16. This does not rewrite a manufacturer's separate written warranty or a provider's separately accepted direct agreement with you.
SUBJECT TO SECTION 16, THE COMBINED AGGREGATE LIABILITY OF ALL PROTECTED PARTIES FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THIS AGREEMENT, ITS EQUIPMENT, OR ITS SERVICES WILL NOT EXCEED $1,000 TOTAL. THIS IS ONE SHARED CAP, NOT $1,000 PER DEFENDANT, CLAIM, DEVICE, OR LEGAL THEORY. IT APPLIES TO LIABILITY REMAINING AFTER ANY VALID WAIVER OR EXCLUSION, INCLUDING LIABILITY BASED ON BREACH OF CONTRACT, BREACH OF A LAWFULLY LIMITABLE SERVICE OBLIGATION, TORT, OR THE ORDINARY NEGLIGENCE OF A PROTECTED PARTY IN SELECTION, PROGRAMMING, SUPPORT, TRANSMISSION, MONITORING, OR RESPONSE.
SUBJECT TO SECTION 16, PROTECTED PARTIES WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, EXEMPLARY, PUNITIVE, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOST PROFITS, LOST BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES, OR LOSS OF DATA, TO THE EXTENT THE LAW PERMITS THEIR EXCLUSION, EVEN IF SUCH DAMAGES WERE FORESEEABLE.
These provisions allocate risk in relation to the price of the equipment and services and the difficulty of predicting the nature and extent of losses. The $1,000 amount is a ceiling on recoverable damages, not an automatic payment, insurance coverage, or a penalty. You must still establish a legally valid claim. Each valid exclusion and limitation operates independently, but none overrides Section 16.
16. Rights and liabilities that are not limited
NOTHING IN THIS AGREEMENT EXCLUDES OR LIMITS LIABILITY FOR FRAUD, INTENTIONAL MISCONDUCT, GROSS NEGLIGENCE, OR RECKLESSNESS, OR ANY OTHER LIABILITY THAT APPLICABLE LAW DOES NOT ALLOW TO BE EXCLUDED OR LIMITED. The damages cap, damages exclusions, insurance waiver and indemnity do not limit claims for death or personal injury, consumer express or implied warranties on goods or services or their remedies, or liability for defective products. They also do not limit any nonwaivable remedy for statutory violations. If applicable law prohibits a particular limitation or requires a greater remedy, that law controls for the affected claim.
The damages cap does not reduce an equipment or monitoring refund expressly owed under this Agreement, our promised performance of the limited hardware warranty, or a mandatory refund, repair, replacement, statutory award, or recoverable attorney fee that cannot lawfully be capped. The Agreement does not waive rights to contact regulators, give honest reviews, dispute unauthorized charges, or exercise other nonwaivable rights. A signer cannot extinguish independent rights of non-signing people without legal authority.
In particular, Maine consumer-goods and services implied warranty protections, Massachusetts consumer warranty protections, and Kansas implied warranty and remedy protections are not reduced by this Agreement. There is no contractual shortening of the period in which you may bring a legal claim. No provision makes you pay our attorney fees merely because you bring a claim or complaint.
17. Limited indemnity for customer conduct
To the extent permitted by law, you will indemnify a Protected Party against a third party's claim, reasonable defense costs, and resulting damages, but only to the extent caused by your unlawful use of the system, installation or recording you lacked authority to undertake, knowingly false material dispatch information, or your intentional misconduct. This does not require indemnification for a Protected Party's own negligence, breach, unlawful conduct, or liability that cannot lawfully be shifted, and does not penalize your good-faith assertion of your own rights.
The Protected Party must give reasonably prompt notice and allow you a reasonable opportunity to participate in the defense. No settlement creating liability, an admission, or a nonmonetary obligation for you may be imposed without your consent, which may not be unreasonably withheld for a reasonable settlement within this indemnity. Any allocation must reflect the extent to which the covered customer conduct actually caused the loss.
18. Providers software and account access
We may use qualified subcontractors and technology providers to perform the services and may replace them after at least 30 days’ direct notice and any additional consent or notice required by law, unless an urgent lawful change is necessary to preserve service or address a threat. The notice identifies the new provider and any material effects on your service; you may cancel with the unused-prepayment refund. We remain responsible for our own contractual duties. Alarm.com and the central station are independent providers; we cannot promise obligations on their behalf beyond those they have authorized.
Where a provider requires a separate subscriber or software agreement, it must be presented for your review and accepted as required before the affected feature is enabled. This paragraph alone does not incorporate unidentified future terms. We will identify the applicable provider terms and retain the acceptance record. Any mandatory provider language or state addendum disclosed and accepted with your order applies to its stated scope, subject to nonwaivable law.
Software is licensed under its applicable license, not sold as unrestricted intellectual property. Do not interfere with the services or access accounts without authorization. Authorized updates and remote configuration may be used to deliver and secure your selected services; material reductions are addressed in Section 23. We do not guarantee another provider will accept transferred equipment or that every app function will work after cancellation.
19. Privacy service communications and recordings
Our Privacy Policy describes the information we collect and use, retention periods, newsletter choices and privacy requests to office@majorhomesecurity.com. To deliver your requested services, we and our service providers may process necessary account details, device and event information, emergency contacts, and communications, and disclose appropriate information to responders. Optional audio, video, or location features are used only as applicable to the services you choose and subject to required permissions. We do not obtain an unrestricted right to sell your recordings through this Agreement.
Provide emergency-contact information only with the authority and consent required by law, and tell contacts how it will be used. Account acceptance does not substitute for another person's legally required consent to a call, text, or recording. Any legally required telephone-recording notice and consent will be handled for the call itself. Separate permission will be obtained where required for automated calls or texts. You may update or revoke communications consent as permitted by law; we will explain effects on features that depend on that channel. Marketing consent is separate and is not a condition of equipment purchase or monitoring.
20. Electronic records and notices
Your affirmative electronic acceptance may serve as your signature. You may save or print this Agreement and request a free paper copy from the contacts in Section 24. Before relying on electronic delivery for a record that law requires in writing, we separately present the required electronic-records disclosure and obtain your affirmative consent in a manner that demonstrates access. That disclosure identifies the records covered, needed hardware and software, how to obtain paper copies, how to withdraw consent, and how to update your details. Accepting the general Agreement does not by itself waive paper delivery rights.
Electronic records require access to the disclosed email address and a device and browser capable of reading and retaining the actual format supplied. We notify you of material technical changes and obtain renewed consent when required. You may update your email, request paper records, or withdraw electronic-delivery consent without a fee by contacting us. We offer paper delivery and do not treat withdrawal alone as a waiver of rights or permission to stop monitoring without lawful notice.
Routine notices go to your current account email; keep it current. Required mail, certified mail, personal service, paper cancellation copies, or notices to authorities are provided in the legally required manner. A notice posted only on the website does not amend your existing contract or replace an individualized notice. We retain the accepted version and supply a copy of material changes and new authorizations.
21. Events outside reasonable control
A party is not responsible for delay or failure caused by an event beyond its reasonable control to the extent it could not reasonably prevent or overcome that effect. Examples include widespread communications failures, natural disasters, war, and government restrictions. The affected party must use reasonable efforts to reduce the impact and resume performance. This does not excuse payment refunds owed for unprovided services, compliance with mandatory law, or conduct excluded from protection by Section 16. You may cancel affected future monitoring and receive the unused prepaid refund.
22. Governing law and disputes
For monitoring, the law of the state where the protected residence is located governs, together with applicable federal law. For an equipment-only consumer order, the law of your state of residence governs, together with applicable federal law. This provision does not deprive you of any additional nonwaivable protection otherwise applicable. Either party may bring a claim in a court with lawful jurisdiction and venue, and consumers retain available small-claims rights. This Agreement does not require arbitration or impose a class-action or jury-trial waiver.
Please contact us about a concern so we can try to resolve it. An informal discussion is not a mandatory prerequisite to a legal claim and does not shorten a statutory filing period. Statutory pre-suit notices and procedures, where applicable, remain effective.
23. Changes assignment and entire agreement
The version accepted with your order governs that order. A later website revision does not retroactively change accrued claims, an equipment purchase, or a paid service period. A material change to ongoing services or these terms requires the advance notice and affirmative acceptance in Section 7; a change to liability limits or dispute procedures also requires affirmative acceptance. Continued use or failure to cancel is not acceptance of a material change. You may decline a material service change by canceling and receiving the unused prepaid monitoring refund. If agreement on a necessary change cannot be reached, we may end future service using Section 9's lawful notice process.
We may assign the Agreement and related service accounts to a qualified successor that assumes our obligations, subject to required notices, privacy obligations, and applicable law. Assignment does not itself increase charges or reduce existing customer rights. You may not transfer monitoring to a new customer or premises without acceptance and any required activation steps.
This Agreement, your accepted order, and applicable accepted addenda state the parties' agreement for their described subjects. Mandatory law controls first; an applicable state-specific protection or required transaction notice controls over a conflicting general term; the accepted order controls specific equipment, plan, and price selections. A later negotiated amendment controls only the subjects it expressly changes. No integration clause eliminates a representation or remedy the law preserves. Failure to enforce a provision once is not a permanent waiver. If a provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue only to the extent lawful; no clause is automatically rewritten to eliminate consumer rights. Payment obligations already accrued and provisions governing completed transactions, claims, and lawful risk allocation survive termination as applicable.
