Keep an eye on the temperature where it matters
A door contact tells you whether an entry opened. The DSC PG9905 adds another kind of information: temperature conditions in the area it monitors. Connected to a compatible PowerG alarm panel, it supports temperature warnings based on the features and settings available on that panel.
Consider it for a seasonal home, a basement or another indoor area where a heating problem could otherwise go unnoticed. Choose the monitored location around the risk you want to observe; one room’s temperature does not tell you the temperature of every pipe or space in the house.
Useful features without additional sensor wiring
- Internal temperature sensing for the area around the detector.

- A signal-quality indicator to help evaluate the mounting location.
- Low-battery reporting and a CR123A lithium battery.
The manufacturer quotes up to seven years of battery life under typical use. Environmental conditions, installation and device activity affect actual replacement intervals.
Need to measure a freezer or an outdoor location?
The optional PGTEMP-PROBE supports remote temperature measurement. It is not included with this sensor. The installation instructions place the probe inside the refrigerator or outdoors, with the detector itself installed outside the refrigerated space or indoors, respectively.
When the external probe is in use, it supplies the temperature measurement; the unit does not simultaneously provide a second independent reading from its internal sensor. Contact Major Home Security about your application before ordering a probe or planning a specialty installation.
Plan the alert, then install the sensor
Does this prevent frozen pipes?
It reports a measured condition through a configured system. It does not heat pipes, shut off water or guarantee that damage will be prevented. Decide who should receive an alert and who can check the property.
Is freeze monitoring included?
Yes. Compatible, properly programmed freeze monitoring is included in Major Home Security’s standard monitoring plan. Service must be activated before monitored reporting is available.
Will it work with my panel?
Confirm the panel model and supported temperature behavior before buying. Start with our IQ Panel 5 for a new system, or send us your existing model. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for installation by service personnel, mounting, programming and testing.
