Description
Listen for glass breaking—not just an opening window
The DSC PGP9922 is a wireless acoustic glassbreak detector for a compatible alarm panel. It is designed to recognize the sound of breaking framed glass, adding a different form of protection from a magnetic opening contact.
A contact can report a window opening; a glassbreak detector addresses an appropriate glass-breaking event within its specified coverage. The combination can be useful where a room’s layout and glazing suit acoustic detection.
Flexible placement, careful application
- Acoustic recognition for the specified breaking-glass event.
- 360-degree acoustic coverage within the manufacturer’s rated limits.
- Wall or ceiling installation, following the current instructions.
- Two-way PowerG communication and back-tamper protection.
- Battery reporting and supported PowerG+ management features.
The room matters as much as the detector
The manual specifies up to 25 ft for qualifying glass at least 40 × 40 cm. Smaller qualifying panes and UL/ULC installations have 20-ft limits; detection distance also decreases with angle. Supported glass includes plate, tempered, laminated, wired, coated and sealed insulating glass within the specified thickness ranges.
The manufacturer calls for qualified installation. Check the approved glass types and sizes, the detector-to-glass distance and the mounting position before ordering. Curtains, partitions, room acoustics and other features can affect the application. Do not assume that one detector protects several separate rooms.
Use the test method specified in the installation instructions. An improvised sound or a casual tap on the glass is not a substitute for the required setup and verification. If you are unsure whether acoustic detection is a good fit, ask Major Home Security about your room.

Questions before you buy
Will it report an open window?
This is a glassbreak detector, not a magnetic contact. Choose a door/window contact when you also want the system to report an opening.
Does 360-degree coverage mean unlimited range?
No. It describes the acoustic coverage pattern; glass type, distance and room conditions still have to meet the installation requirements.
Can I put it on the ceiling?
The product supports wall or ceiling mounting when installed according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Check the correct position for the glazing you want to cover.
Is it compatible with every PowerG system?
Do not assume that from the radio-family name alone. Confirm the exact panel and firmware. Major Home Security can help check an existing alarm before you order.
